For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn, I have used approximately:-

400 grams of King Cole Comfort DK in colour 1
100 grams of King Cole Comfort DK in colour 2

7.00mm & 5.50mm crochet hooks

UK Instructions:

Made in multiples of 2.

With colour 1 and 7.00mm hook, make 102ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (101dc)

2nd Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

3rd Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * working over 2nd Row work 1fptr around next dc on the row below, (see pics) work 1dc into the next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (50fptr)

4th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn.

5th Row – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * working over the last row worked, work 1fptr around next tr on the row below, (see pic) work 1dc into the next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

Rpt 4th & 5th Rows until 9 rows have been worked. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in colour 2 and rpt 4th & 5th Rows 10 more times. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in colour 1 and rpt 4th & 5th Rows until 121 rows have been worked in all from beginning. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in colour 2 and rpt 4th & 5th Rows 10 more times. Turn. Fasten off.

Join in colour 1 and rpt 4th & 5th Rows 8 more times. Turn. Fasten off.

Join colour 1 to first dc on the beginning of the row just worked and with RS facing work 1dc into each dc to end. Turn.

Change to 5.50mm hook.

Border – 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc across, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each of next 2 row ends, * miss 1 row end, 1dc into each of next 2 row ends, * rpt from * to * down first side of blanket, 3dc into corner, 1dc into ch along the starting ch edge, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each of next 2 row ends, rpt from * to * up second side of blanket, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 3 more rows of 1dc into each dc around all sides of blanket, working 3dc into 3 corners and 1dc into last corner, ss to first dc on the end of each row. Fasten off.

With colour 2 starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work one row of 1dc into each dc around all sides of blanket, working 3dc into 3 corners and 1dc into last corner, ss to first dc on the end of each row. Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off all loose ends of yarn.
