Easy Peasy Bonnet-Pants Free Baby Crochet Pattern

rpt.    Repeat
sl st.  Slip Stitch
tch.   Turning Chain
Inc.    Increase

Base of ch. Work in first stitch

ch3 counts as first dc

To fit size approx:   0-3 month baby
Pants: Finished leg length from waist 10 Inches approx.

Materials
For great results it is always best to use the recommended yarn I have used approximately:-

100 grams of James C Brett Marble DK yarn
OR
you can use Light Worsted #3 Variegate

4.00mm Clover Crochet Hook

GAUGE – 4.5dc and 2 rows measures approx 1 Inch

Bonnet – Make magic circle, ch3, (RS) 15dc in ring, pull loose loop to close circle, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.

2nd Round – (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 2dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (31dc + ch3)

3rd Round – (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in next dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (47dc + ch3)

4th Round – (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, 1dc in each of the next 3dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in each of next 3dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (59dc + ch3)

5th Round – (Inc Row) ch3, 1dc in each of next 6dc, * 2dc in next dc, 1dc in next 7dc, * rpt from * to * to last 5dc, turn leaving last 5dc un-worked. (60dc + ch3) 

6th Round – ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt the 6th Round seven more times, making 13dc rows in all from beginning. Turn.

Brim – Working through back loop of stitch only, ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Working through both loops from now on, rpt 6th Round until 4 rows have been worked in all for brim.

Fasten off.

Chain Tie – ch120. Fasten off.

Fold brim onto the front of the bonnet, starting from front edge and catching in brim as you go, work one row of sc along neck edge.

Fasten off.

Finishing – Weave in and trim off loose ends of yarn, thread chain tie evenly along through stitches on neck edge and tie in a bow.

Pants – ch90, sl st to first ch to make a round (RS) ch3, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn. (89dc + ch3).

Second Row – ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, sl st to the top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt Second Row until 10 rows have been worked in all. Turn. (add extra rows if you wish)

Divide for legs – ch3, 1dc in next 44dc, sl st to the top of ch3 on beginning of row, turn leaving 45dc un-worked.

Continue on these 44dc and 3tch, slip stitching at the end of each row, until 11 rows have been worked from division. (add extra rows if you wish) Turn.

Leg Cuff – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt last row once.

Fasten off.

Second LegReturn to remaining 45dc at division, join yarn to next dc and continue in the same way as first leg.

With WS of work facing and starting with ch1 work 90sc evenly along cast on edge at waist, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Next Row – ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt last row once.

Fasten off.

Chain Tie – ch130. Fasten off.

Finishing – Close small gap on crotch, weave in loose ends of yarn and trim. Turn through to RS. Thread chain tie through alternate dc’s at waist and ankles and tie with bows.
